Course Overview

The entire relay will be run on C&O Canal Towpath, starting from Point of Rocks and finishing at Carderock Recreation Area. Leg 1 goes from Start to Exchange 1 (3.6 Mile). Leg 2 goes from Exchange1 to Exchange 2 (4.9 Mile). Leg 3 goes from Exchange 2 to Exchange 3 (8.9 Mile). Leg 4 goes from Exchange 3 to Exchange 4 (8 Mile). Leg 5 goes from Exchange 4 to Exchange 5 (6.2 Mile). Leg 6 goes from Exchange 5 to Finish (6.1 Mile). The total is 37.7 Mile and 6 legs.

Exchange 1: Nolands Ferry

Exchange 2: Dickerson Conservation Park

Exchange 3: Edwards Ferry

Exchange 4: Lock 24, Riley’s Lock

Exchange 5: Lock 21

Finish: Carderock Recreation Area (38° 58' 18.0001" N, 77° 11' 58.9999" W) 


Team Categories

Regular: 6 people, at least 1 woman

Ultra: 3 people, any man/woman combination


Rules

1.     Exchange Zones: Runners must exchange at every exchange zone.

2.     Runner sequence must be submitted ahead of race time. For teams in open and mixed category each runner runs exactly one leg. Runners in ultra category will run two legs each, with first runner running leg 1 and 4, second runner running leg 2 and 5, etc.

3.     Runner Drop Outs:  If a runner drops out due to injury, he/she may not be reinstated into the team lineup. Only the runner of the previous leg or the runner of the next leg can finish the leg for the dropped out runner.


Awards

Everyone receives a medal and Hua Sports prize. Top 3 teams in each category also receive additional awards
